BIO: My name is Matt Hurbanis. My wife Loni and I have been members of FPCO for 16 years. I am a father to Peyton, Mandy, and Luke and in my spare time practice Orthopaedic Surgery. I am currently blessed to serve as an elder and 9th grade boys Sunday School teacher. FPCO has been a wonderful church home and has blessed our family.
KEY VERSE: Acts 26:29 Paul replied, "Short time or long–I pray God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains."
CENTRAL TRUTH: Paul revealed what his purpose was… to bring others to salvation through Christ.
DEVOTIONAL: Pauls Purpose
At the end of his defense Paul states his heart. He states the reason for all that he has endured. He states his purpose in life and what has sustained him through the torture and the bondage he has unjustly received. He states the purpose of his transformation. He states his hearts burden. He states why he has left and given up every part of his life. He states his bottom line.
It is simply to witness of the Good News of the saving grace of Jesus Christ so that all may receive His blessing.
Is this our purpose? If it is are we making it the driving force behind all that we do? Are we on fire as Paul was to spread the good news? Do we have a burden on our hearts to see others receive Gods saving grace? Are we willing to be purposeful in our intent and reorganize our lives around this purpose? Will we commit our entire existence in a radical way to serving our King? Will we die to ourselves?
Dr. Swanson’s sermon this Sunday was a passionate, obedient plea for us all to relook at our Christianity and become dead to ourselves and all in for Christ. It was a plea to get off the sideline and into the game. If you were not able to attend, I would encourage you to watch it on-line. It will impact your life and the kingdom of God.
QUESTION 1: Is reaching out and sharing the saving grace of Christ to others a priority in your life? Pray that God will fill your heart with his desires and create opportunities to share with others.
QUESTION 2: What will you share about Gods saving grace in your life to the next person who asks? Make it simple and personal.
QUESTION 3: Who do you know right now that doesn’t know Christ. Prayfully seek for ways to witness to that person through your life.
