SCRIPTURE:  1 Corinthians 15:35-49          Read the passage

BIO:  Anonymous

KEY VERSE:  1 Corinthians 15:42-43  The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;

CENTRAL TRUTH:  This body we know will pass away and in heaven we will have a new, glorified body.

DEVOTIONAL:  Resurrected flesh is not the same as normal flesh or even that flesh which is merely raised from the dead (Lazarus, the widow’s son with Elijah, etc). Jesus is the only one to have been resurrected and we know from Scripture he transpired through walls, had the marks of cruxifiction, and hungry (breakfast on the beach).

In this passage Paul inspires our imaginations towards that future resurrected flesh we, who are in Christ, will one day inhabit.

QUESTION 1:  Does your mind or daily habits obsess over this earthly flesh, your body, such that you waste time neglecting the call of service God has for your time in this age?

QUESTION 2:  Where is the line between healthy living and image-obsession?

QUESTION 3:  What commitment can you make this day to focus more on the poor rather than your body image?
