KEY VERSE:  1 Corinthians 15:33  Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character.

CENTRAL TRUTH:  Live out in action what you believe in your heart.

DEVOTIONAL:  This passage begins with a controversial issue during Paul’s days. Notice the delineation between “they” and “we”. Paul, in his mature faith writing is able to sidestep the theological discussion to step into the heart of the problem. The problem, as Paul sees it, is that there were those with differing opinions that had entered the community of faith that were causing some to stumble. He reminds the church that faith is foundational to how we live our lives. It should be the focus for our daily choices. He states it in verses 31 and 32, “I die every day” and “If I fought wild beasts…”; that while he makes decisions daily, it is because of his faith that prioritizes his choices.

We make important faith statements with the things that we put on our calendars or the way we spend our money. Our words that we choose in conversations or the manner in which we treat those people around us also help us understand the connection between our faith and our actions. The things that matter to us will determine the choices we make. May we be sensitive to the things of God in our conversations and the journey we make through this day as we walk it with Him.

QUESTION 1:  If there is no resurrection, why would he face danger to witness, to joy and rejoice over the conversion of people?

QUESTION 2:  Think and ask yourself—if there is no resurrection, why should we put ourselves in jeopardy every hour?

QUESTION 3:  Are my choices reflecting my faith?
